SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is a therapeutic process that combines gentle hands-on bodywork, specifically CranioSacral Therapy (CST), with psychotherapeutic dialogue to help the body release the physical and emotional effects of past trauma. The technique is based on the idea that trauma can be stored in the body as an "energy cyst," causing pain or dysfunction, and that releasing this physical tension can lead to emotional healing. A trained therapist uses subtle movements to work with the fascia (connective tissue) to help the client process and release suppressed memories and emotional stress. Craniosacral therapy is a gentle touch therapy based in Osteopathic principles. Slow and steady techniques release tension and blockages deep in the body by promoting the movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system. Releasing these blockages can help relieve pain, realign the body’s structure, balance the autonomic nervous system, and help other organ systems function better. Sessions are deeply relaxing with most people reporting a profound sense of well-being after session.
